This summer I picked up the most adorable little pink tree with pink lights to go in the princess's very "shabby" (as in Shabby Chic, not as in crappy) bedroom this Christmas. I got it for a just a few pennies.
Yesterday I decided that it would look great with a tied garland. I used scraps from the quilt I made for her bed.
First I cut the scraps into strips.
Why are they sorted on the carpet? Yes, I do have a craft table with a chair... I prefer to work on the floor.
I got some ribbon and started tying the fabric strips into knots around the ribbon. When I was finished, I trimmed all the ends of the fabric to about the same length.
Isn't it lovely?
Garland done, ornaments are next!

So cute! A friend of mine does the fabric garland like this, but ties her strips of ribbon around a string of lights.
I LOVE the rag garland! What a cute idea. It looks so great, too. I'll have to give this a try. Also, thanks for the tip about wetting the paper before using Mod (modge) Podge. :) That makes sense. I'll try that next time.
Very sweet - my daughter would absolutely LOVE this!

How sweetly retro! Actually, the pastel trees are starting to become popular, saw a bunch tonite and thought they were really sweet.
It's so refreshing to see something different. And, I'm loving the garland idea. I may have to give this a try. It's adorable!
